My last post was a little bit over six months ago. In the post I explained some of the differences I saw between the dying Weimar Republic and the contemporary United States. I think at the time I felt a lot of fear and uncertainty in the air. I think what we have now is something different.
We now live in an age of absurdity. The likes of which The Marx Brothers would have difficulty mocking. Rufus T. Firefly fails miserably in any attempt to parody our current reality. Pity, I used to enjoy the concept of absurdism.
In the past six months trump has done away with due process, unleashed ICE as an incompetent and feckless vigilante force against brown people (regardless of citizenship or immigration status), destroyed the East Wing of the White House, and practices outright bribery in plain sight of our wholly inept and likely corrupt fourth estate. I could go on, but there is no point to it because our media masters and taste makers are trying to normalize the senile buffoon who occupies the White House.
trump’s latest act of imbecility has been to shut down the federal government of the United States. He and his cronies have daily media stunts and press conferences attempting to blame Democratic Party lawmakers for this mess. Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House refuses to call Republican lawmakers back to Washington D.C.
The most probable reason for this seems to be the Speaker’s unwillingness to swear in a Democratic congressional representative who would be the final vote necessary to release the Epstein files. Though candidate trump campaigned on the idea of releasing these files, President trump has cowered in their shadow as they seemingly implicate him in criminal sexual activities with minors. Now his administration has shut down the entire federal government in an attempt to delay the release of records that the administration swears do not exist to begin with. We do, however, have the testimony of then minors who confirmed identities and acts of those who participated in Epstein’s escapades.
I could go on. This is just the surface stuff. trump is senile and cannot have ever been considered to have any intellectual or political talents, even if he maintained full faculties. Meanwhile his puppet masters and cronies work tirelessly to dismantle the state.
I would guess that our one true hope in all of this is the incompetence of the billionaire elite. They have seemingly insulated themselves so well from reality that they appear not to be able to understand how to dismantle it. I never would have thought the apocalypse would be this stupid.
